The Hurt Locker

The Hurt Locker, directed by Kathryn Bigelow is one of those movies which reaches out and grabs you by the guts. It is gutsy, it is raw, it is brutal. Needless to say: I loved this film.

Nominated for 'Actor in a Leading Role', 'Cinematography', 'Directing', 'Film Editing', 'Music - Original Score', Best Picture, 'Sound Editing', 'Sound Mixing' and Writing - Original Screeplay', The Hurt Locker is another resounding success after 'Point Break' and the much maligned (but in my opinion excellent) sci-fi millenium picture 'Strangedays'.

It focusses on the exploits of a bomb disposal technician in Iraq, one of the highest paid, and most dangerous positions in the modern army, who, as new leader of his team displays an uncharacteristic bravado in the face of almost certain death.

It's the kind of film that makes you feel like 'a man' (if you are one) and is brilliant all the way up to the end, climaxing with what you'd think ought to be the 'Rage against the Machine' track from the end of the Matrix.

I loved this film and can't recommend it highly enough.
